Looking for Someone Special

So in the 26 days that I was on the road, I was able to record 28 songs! That's pretty good!
Most are completely tracked and ready to mix, and some still need more added, (in particular the four songs by Lizz King).
I'm in Port Chester, NY this week taking a little break from tracking to get some mixes done! I also went to the beach! Alright!

So i sent the two Tron Valdez mixes over the world wide web to Chapel Hill, NC to be evaluated by Chris and Mike. I'll post one of the finished mixes in the player as soon as I make their revisions! Probably tomorrow...

Right now I'm diving into the Future Islands mixes.

"Looking for someone special"
refers to my quest for more bands to record.

I really need to get cracking with promotion! Most of the bands I worked with in the past month gave me a place to sleep, food, and a little gas money, if they could. Next time, I'm hoping to break even! That means probably around 20-30 dollars per song, which is fucking rediculously cheap! Maybe I shouldn't be posting that info on the www? The reason I do it so cheap is because I really want to work with the bands that I want to work with, and not have money stop that from happening. Still, I need to get from place to place, and I'd like it if I didn't have to break my back carrying barns around to afford it.

Basically this is an OPEN CALL to those that are in a band, or know someone who plays music and would like to record as part of the project! It's really fun!
CONTACT ME!! Please do!

I'm sure a lot of bands are going to want your product after hearing these mixes - I wish you could post some of the stories you've shared with me that show exactly how much hard work, practical knowhow and creative energy went into making these songs. Sometimes I think people don't understand how profoundly the Producer affects the sound of the band. Everyone knows the Beatles, but how many people know George Martin?

Of course, I'm not saying this to downplay the songwriting skills and the "sound" of the bands you recorded. You seem to have selected groups with a wide range of styles - some of the songs are just amazingly good.

I think 28 songs is a pretty huge amount - especially because it was all depending on other people - could have been a potential bummer, but you seem to have gotten along with all kinds of people. Of course, I knew that was one of your skills, but I like to be proven right... After all, it's a huge part of the creative process.

Of course I agree with Lizzy - more pictures! More video! (and nice font-size "special effects"...)

I know at some point you were talking about making a compilation of some sort. Is that still a possibilidad?

Lastly, you should raise your prices. As far as I'm concerned, the groups are completely ripping you off. No insult intended band-dudes; Chet is the one who deserves the blame for under-valueing his own work. But COME ON man! This is not just a dude who presses the record button - you've been widely recognized as a musical genious since, what, fifth grade? In a few years when people are knocking down your door to get your skills they are going to LAUGH that you ever charged $20 a song.

Anyway, keep me "posted" Chet...
