La Playa

I'm trying to get shit working with the player. It's working for now. I think it will be working for a while. We're recording presently. Enough downtime to write this silly blurb! I'll try to post some of today's progress! We'll have all the base tracks done by the end of the night. We also have three songs with vocals, and some embellishment. Everyone's hands are are getting crazy.

hey,
I'm curious how you recorded the vocals for "Goods Ones". Did she record a lead vocal track while she recorded her guitar? That approach worked out well for "Gift Horse". Did you do that again?

What's "embellishment?"

Gift horse is tghe only track that we recorded live like that, because the other songs had drums, and we couldn't do all that live. The vocals were recorded seperately with a decent condenser mic. I think we used the same mic for Gift Horse, but for the others we just used a SM58, like you'd see someone using live on stage. It's not quite as detailed. Also, on Gift Horse we ran the vocals through the tape, which dirtied it up a bit.

I use the term embellishment to describe overdubs that weren't usually part of the song to begin with. Studio stuff, like "oh, maybe this part could use, you know, tambourine", or something. Vocal harmonies and doubling, etc. Stuff that's done on the fly!

I like your phraseology dude, especially when you get fancy with the homemade words.
