I'm in Athens, Georgia recording Cara Satalino. This is the first day of recording on this trip... so far it's going great! We got some scratch tracks done and we did the guitar and vocals for her song "Gift Horse". This song was recorded live without a click, just Cara and her guitar..
Here's a rough mix of what we did today on "Gift Horse"
The setup was simply Cara in her living room standing next to her amp. The amp was mic'ed with one mic (sm57), she was singing into a large condenser, and there was a spaced omni pair for the room...
Is this too much info on the recording process itself? Not enough? Maybe it's just boring the way I present it?
Anyway, Cara's songs are really incredible! I think this is gonna go really well. I'll try to post material as it's created!
Enjoy!
ps. I can't post any pictures just yet, because I havn't recieved the cable to connect the camera!

hey Chet,
I really like the recording info you give us; how its all goin down. I definitely think you should include that with everyone you record. Maybe even include more about it if you're willing. I love that insight.
cool. thanks dude! I'll do that. I hope to have some photos of the setups as soon as I can upload them...
I like hearing how you recorded it. Even though it means less to me than to other people, perhaps, I still like hearing about the process. I can't wait to see some pictures! Cara's songs are beautiful. I want to hear more.
I like the technical info on the recording. But I actually wish you could say a little MORE. What does all this technical stuff MEAN for the SOUND? I mean, what were you trying to achieve by doing it that way?
Then maybe you could put all the techical stuff into one paragraph, in different color or font, so people who weren't interested could just skim over it. But I wouldn't.
I'd also like to hear more about what Cara Satalino is trying to do - a link, and a short description. Maybe a little interview on the last day? Either on mp3 or typed out?
I still can't fix my iTunes so I haven't listened yet...
Good luck!
I agree, I like hearing about process, and I think you could include more. I also think its cool to include arbitrary details about the experience like what cool food you ate and what funny thing happened. Party time.

Yeah - I think what you are doing is significantly more interesting than what most people blog about and so we would like to read about it.
I think frequent short entries are better than more frequent long entries - not all your posts have to have the same formula.
Anyway, I'm really excited about your project man. So cool!!!
